Green grass and lemonade

34
"The grass is always greener.."  This quote applies to jobs, family life, personal life, etc.  A saying that has been "said" to death.  So why do I stab it one more time? Because of another quote that my professor shared with us today, "Bloom where you are planted."  The anthesis of discontent and dissatisfaction with the cards you were dealt in life.

Kind of like making lemonade out of lemons.

I like to think of myself as a "glass half full" kinda girl, but I too, want more from this life.  That quote about blooming made me think about how I often complain about the smallest, tiniest details that are missing or unsatisfactory and yet, I have no time to be thankful for the blessings and opportunities that I do have.  I am always apt to pray for the things that I want rather than focusing on what I have and trust in God's plan for my future.

I'm a nerd about old movies..especially musicals.  In "White Christmas" there's a song that Bing Crosby sings about counting your blessings instead of sheep, "because you'll fall asleep counting your blessings."

I feel a problem with our world today is that we get caught up in the rush of our busy everyday lives.  There are certain days every year when we sit down for a moment and are thankful for life, family and friends, but what about every other day?

I challenge you to count your blessings every day, and not just on Thanksgiving.  Let's both work on it.
