On the eve of Thanksgiving, I, in a cliched way, reflect with grateful affection on the blessings in my life. But cliche or not, it is from the heart.
I am thankful for my God. Without Him, I would be nowhere, as a child lost in the darkness of a sinful world.
I am thankful for my faith and for my parents bringing me up in a way that I challenge the ways of the world and don't just accept them.
I am thankful for my loving family.
My mother, who gave up her professional life to stay home, take care of and teach us. She sacrifices every single second of the day to make our lives wonderful.
My father, who goes out into the real world every day to provide for our family. And, who lets me plan a study abroad trip to Europe, even though I'm his little girl and he doesn't want to let me go.
My 17-year-old brother, who is a strong, silent, yet hilarious giant. I know you would never say it, but you would protect me from any danger.
My 13-year-old brother, who is dancing right now between becoming a young man and yet still wanting to be a child. You have so many talents...I know great things are in store for you.
My 9-year-old brother, the most joyful child I know. You have so much energy and so much compassion for every living thing.
My 6-year-old brother, the observer. I wonder what cogs and wheels are turning in your head every day. Your attention to detail, especially when you play Mass, show me how to have the innocent faith of a child.
I am thankful for my education and the opportunity to go to college and pursue my passions.
I am thankful that I was home schooled, because it taught me that I don't ever have to stop learning.
I am thankful that we have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food to eat.
I am thankful for my job. Honestly, it's a dream job, and now I can cross it off my bucket list.
I am thankful for my friends. I know my closest friends will always be there for me, and that security blanket is more wonderful than they know.
I am thankful for freedom. I know I take it for granted, but as a member of two minorities in this country, I know that there are others in the world who are not allowed to speak out as I can.
I am thankful for life. 53 million children in my generation never got the chance to take their first breath. I am a survivor of abortion and I will never stop speaking for those who can't yet.
I wish you much feasting, love and many blessings on this day.
