Reflections on 2012

34
Happy New Year!  Laziness overcomes me during breaks from school, and I'm trying to squeeze every last ounce of joy out of this one since it's my last break before I have to grow up.

The following photos made up my year and all the joys, sorrows, adventures, struggles, memories and love that went into it.

I embarked on the journey of a lifetime, leaving my family and traveling to Europe for the first time.

I grew in love of adventure as I traveled to different countries and glimpsed unfamiliar cultures, traditions, people and societies.

I (hopefully) grew in knowledge and love of my faith.  Last year, I picked St. John of the Cross as my patron for the year.  This year, appropriately for the Year of Faith, I picked St. Luke the Evangelist.  I am instructed to pray for those questioning their faith.

I met wonderful people.  I strengthened old friendships.  I created memories that will last a lifetime.

I saw the changing seasons of the world and of life.  Frozen, snowy winters, bright green springs, summer days that seem to bake your skin and crisp-smelling autumn with falling leaves that crunch under your feet.

I voted for the first time in a presidential election.  I voted for the dignity and sanctity of human life.

I affirmed my love and appreciation for family.  I am not easy to love and they do so unconditionally.  In return, the least I can do is love them back.

I experienced great love in ways that I did not anticipate in the least.  I am a changed person because of that.

I saw love in the little things of every day life.

May your 2013 be filled with joy and love.  It's going to be exciting.
