Internally

34
If you turn up the music loud enough, you don't have to listen to the world outside.

Internally, you're swept along by the beat and the melody.

Reality falls away.  The bass dulls the pain. Each thump that vibrates through your bones puts another brick in the wall of resistance to feelings.

It's impossible to make plans because you can't support any thoughts save that of the lyrics circling around in your head.

Despite being surrounded by willing hands and hearts, you want to be alone, shut away from the world.

On each repeat of the song (because obviously you're playing it on a loop), you feel less.

What emotions?

Without emotion you don't have to accept or study the consequences of the situation.

You don't have to talk.

You don't have to hug.

You don't have to hold hands.

You don't have to see the pity in their eyes.

You don't have to live with your own guilt and the "shoulda, coulda, woulda."

One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.
